Workforce Diversity and Inclusion

In November 2021, Shodor was awarded the HPCwire Editors' Choice Award in Workforce Diversity and Inclusion Leadership. HPCwire is the #1 news and information resource covering High Performance Computing (HPC) – the fastest computers in the world and the people who run them. In Spring 2007, two of Shodor's websites, the Computational Science Education Reference Desk (CSERD) and Interactivate, were selected as Official Honorees in the 11th Annual Webby Awards.   more →

21st Century Skills Development

On October 9th, 2007, Shodor was recognized on the national level for its innovative use of networking technology at the Cisco Growing with Technology Awards 2007.

Shodor was the Grand Prize Winner in the Non Profit Category. Cisco states that the winners of the program represent their industries and constituencies as role models, showcasing best practices on the use of technology to address business challenges, fuel success and compete more effectively. Science Partnership

When it comes to partnering with other organizations to improve math and science education, there's one NC non profit organization that stands out: Shodor.

Shodor's Pathways to CyberInfrastructure program, which brings computational science (scientific computing) activities into existing after-school programs at community centers such as the Emily K Center in Durham, was recognized on April 19th at the NC Science, Math and Technology Education Center's annual Celebration of Science, Math and Technology as a leader for its partnership efforts.   more →

Professional Development

On November 13th, 2006, an Undergraduate Computational Engineering and Science National Program Award was presented to Robert M. Panoff, Shodor's executive director, for his work implementing the National Computational Science Institute.

Presented by the Krell Institute and sponsored by the Department of Energy, the award seeks to "promote and enhance undergraduate education in computational engineering and science."   more →

Place To Work

Shodor was named one of 89 national winners of the 2006 Alfred P. Sloan Awards for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility. This award was given to organizations that demonstrated "the best flexible work practices and policies in the nation."
